Henri Joseph HARPIGNIES (1819–1916) Thatched-Roof Houses in Famars, 1849. Ink and wash drawing, signed and inscribed to Madame Bapterosses in the lower right corner, located and dated in the lower left corner. 27.7 x 22.5 cm (Unframed, pinholes, paper slightly warped) History: The Bapterosses family lived in Briare, near Saint-Privé, where Henri Harpignies stayed regularly and where he would eventually spend his final years. This early dedication, from 1849, attests to this long-standing friendship. This drawing can be compared to the etching: *Flemish Farm*, 1850, 20 x 24 cm
