Book in six fascicles, contained between two wooden boards, one engraved with the title: Zheng Banqiao Sizi Shu Zhenji, "Authentic Calligraphy of the Four Books by Zheng Banqiao", reprint dated Zhonghua Minguo 4 (1915), by the Fengtian Zuoxin (printing office of Fengtian, former name of the city of Shenyang). China, Minguo period (1912-1949) Dim. plates: 28.7 x 17.3 cm - H. total: 5.8 cm Note: Zheng Banqiao is the pen name of the painter and calligrapher Zheng Xie (1693-1765), one of the "Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou". The "Four Books" refer to the four great books of Confucianism: the Confucian Talks, the Mencius, the Great Study and the Invariable Middle.
