Two ball vases forming a pair in Italian majolica, each decorated with two large medallions with profiles of a woman and a helmeted warrior for one, and busts of an elderly man and a warrior wearing a bourguignotte for the other, standing out against blue enamel backgrounds with scrolls and fleurons. Italy, Venice, workshop of Maestro Domenico da Venezia, circa 1570-1590. Condition: good overall, slightly ground necks, small chips to necks, pierced bases for lamp mounting. H: 28.5 and 27.5 cm respectively
