PIROTTE, tinsmith, patented by the Maison... - Lot 46 - SGL Enchères - Frédéric Laurent de Rummel et Peggy Savidan
PIROTTE, tinsmith, patented by the Maison du Roi... Paris, rue Saint-Antoine, s.d. (1788). In-16 (9.5 x 6.6 cm), red morocco, gilt fillets and corner finials, special finial in the centre, smooth spine nicely decorated, inside roulette, gilt edges (Binding by the publisher). The Almanac of the shepherds is illustrated with many engraved woods and symbols. In all likelihood, and as indicated in the BHVP catalogue, which has a comparable copy for the year 1783, it is probably a work offered by the tinsmith Pirotte to his customers at the beginning of the year. He had a careful morocco binding made, with arms combining the royal arms, the arms of Condé, of which he was a supplier, and the arms of the city of Paris. Promotional label of Pirotte fils on the first cover.
